I have just finished reading Jon Bentley’s famous programming book: Programming Pearls (2nd Edition). I plan to summarize my impressions soon but before that I’d like to draw attention to an interesting sentence from the book (Strings of Pearls, (Column 15 of Programming Pearls)):

Extremely long strings represented by the letters A, C, G and T are in geneticists’ databases and deep inside the cells of many readers of this book.

I wonder whether there are some readers of the book whose cells do not contain “extremely long strings represented by the letters A, C, G and T”. Or maybe what he means is “there are many people who read this book and their cells contain extremely long strings represented by the letters A, C, G and T”. But for the love of science-fiction and AI, I want to take the first interpretation
